Chimney Liner Installation
One of the most important parts of your chimney is a part that you normally can’t see. It’s your chimney liner. All homeowners need to make sure they have one and know that it’s in good working order. Cover All Solutions can help make sure this critical component of your chimney is installed and works properly.
The Chimney Safety Institute of America defines a chimney liner as, “a clay, ceramic, or metal conduit installed inside of a chimney, intended to contain the combustion products, direct them to the outside atmosphere, and protect the chimney walls from heat and corrosion.”
Homeowners should know that every chimney needs a working liner. They serve several purposes. Chimney liners protect you against the transfer of heat to combustible materials, so fires don’t start. They protect the interior of your chimney, allowing it to last longer and they help guide gasses and particles up and out of the chimney. They help make sure your flue, the duct through which the waste gases produced by a fire or fuel-burner travel, is correctly sized. If the liner is improperly installed it can lead to a build-up of creosote, an oily residue that comes from wood preservatives. This buildup can allow carbon monoxide to enter your home.
